KLEEMANN cone crushers

Crushing tools for cone crushers – CONE

Cone crushers are the ideal choice for use in medium-hard to hard and abrasive natural stone as well as for raw material preparation in mining applications. Cone crushers deliver standards-compliant, cubic final grains in the second and third crushing stages. Cone crushers are available in different sizes and versions and for a range of applications.

The KX series of cone crushers are typically used as secondary and tertiary crushers. In this case, the crushing of the feed material takes place between the rigid bowl liner and the moving crushing cone. The cam rotating around the main shaft is driven by the reduction gear. The rotation sets the head into a tumbling motion, whereby the crushing gap opens and closes cyclically.

The grain size of the final product can be varied by adjusting the crushing gap (open side feeding (O.S.F.) = inlet opening/closed side setting (C.S.S.) = closed gap width.

* The following models belong to the KX series:

  • KX200: MCO 9 EVO, MCO 90 EVO
  • KX300: MCO 11
  • KX350: MCO 11 PRO, MCO 110 PRO
  • KX400: MCO 13, MCO 130

How they work

Cone crushers crush the feed material in a circulating, opening and closing, crushing gap between the bowl liner and the mantle by pressure crushing. The opening and closing also takes place simultaneously on the opposing sides of the crushing chamber.

The construction concept of cone crushers varies. In the case of the cone crushers used by KLEEMANN, the crusher shaft is press-fitted into the main frame. The mantle carrier is mounted on an eccentric drive unit. The rotation of the drive unit opens the gap between the mantle and the bowl liner as it revolves. The grain size to be produced is altered by raising or lowering the bowl liner.

Applications

Cone and gyratory crushers are predominantly used when impact crushing is no longer possible due to the high compressive strength of the crushed material, or the costs of wear due to the abrasiveness of the stone are prohibitive.
On account of their construction concept, cone and gyratory crushers are limited with regard to the feed size and the achievable reduction ratios.
In mobile plant systems, cone crushers are used predominantly in the secondary and tertiary crushing stages.

Kleemann ‘CONE’ crushing tools for MOBICONE cone crushers

The right combination makes the difference!

In order to achieve a consistently high material volume and high final product quality from a cone crusher, mobile cone crushing plants should be operated in the optimum range. Although high process reliability is already assured in the factory, KLEEMANN’s applications expertise enables users of KLEEMANN cone crushers to further optimise the crushing process. This starts with choosing and putting together the right tool for the job, consisting of a cone and a bowl liner.

  • S-CONE stands for standard versions
  • SH-CONE stands for short head versions

Guidelines for the selection of the right tools

1. Standard or short head?

  • The crushing tools must be chosen on the basis of the feed size and the desired size of the final product to ensure that the entire wear surface is used and the required crushing capacity is maintained throughout their service life.
  • The standard crushing tools fulfil the requirements of secondary crushing with feed sizes of up to 240 mm.
  • The short head cutting tools fulfil the requirements of tertiary crushing with feed sizes of around 120 mm

2. The combination is decisive: The right combination of standard and short head bowls

  • The cones and bowl liners must both be either standard or short head variants, and may not be combined with one another.
  • The bowl liners of both the standard and short head bowls are available in three different versions: coarse (‘grob’), medium (‘mittel’) and fine (‘fein’). Their use is based on the required size of the final product – or, in technical terms, according to the gap setting, also described as the close site setting (CSS).
  • KLEEMANN offers a range of crushing tools with properties matched to the abrasiveness of the material to be crushed:
    • CONE.18 with 18 % manganese content
    • CONE.20 with 20 % manganese content

The crushing tool tool-set for cone crushers

With the crushing tool tool-set for cone crushers, you get everything you need for changing the crushing tools.
The crushing tool tool-set for cone crushers contains all the components for replacing the bowl liner, the mantle, the torch ring made from specially treated steel, the sealant and all the mounting materials you will need to fit them.

Markings on crushing tool parts

Once the tools are installed, they can no longer be distinguished from one another by shape or form. For easy identification, KLEEMANN has devised a marking system for the different bowl liners and mantles.

Standard

  • Always marked (to distinguish them from short head versions)
  • Three notches: ‘coarse’ version
  • Two notches: ‘medium’ version
  • One notch: ‘fine’ version

Short head

  • Always marked with notches opposite to one another (to distinguish them from standard versions)
  • Three notches: ‘coarse’ version
  • Two notches: ‘medium’ version
  • One notch: ‘fine’ version
