Engine oils

Purpose

For ensuring optimum engine performance: Engine oils prevent direct metal-to-metal contact between individual components, reduce friction, and therefore play a decisive role in minimising engine wear. They also contribute to the sealing and cooling of the pistons, thereby promoting higher compression, which in turn ensures higher engine performance. In short: engine oils are lubricants for maintaining the engine and reducing the stresses it is subjected to.

We recommend the use of genuine WIRTGEN GROUP engine oils in the following range of applications

WIRTGEN GROUP Engine Oil 15W-40

Mineral oil based multigrade engine oil: For application in markets where fuels with a higher sulphur content are used (for example, India, China, Africa, South America). Suitable for engines up to and including Tier 3 without exhaust gas after-treatment.

WIRTGEN GROUP Engine Oil 10W-40

Synthetic low-friction engine oil for longest oil change intervals: For application in markets where fuels with a higher sulphur content are used (for example, India, China, Africa, South America). Suitable for engines up to and including Tier 3 without exhaust gas after-treatment.

WIRTGEN GROUP Engine Oil Low SAPS 15W-40

Mineral oil based engine oil with higher quality base oil: Meets the viscosity requirements of all WIRTGEN GROUP machines with Cummins engines. For application in markets where low-sulphur fuel is used (for example, Europe). Suitable for engines with exhaust gas after-treatment (Tier 4 and above).

WIRTGEN GROUP Engine Oil Low SAPS 10W-40

Synthetic low-friction engine oil with a comprehensive performance spectrum: Fuel savings of up to 1% compared to an SAE 15W-40 oil are possible. For application in markets where low-sulphur fuel is used (for example, Europe). Suitable for engines with exhaust gas after-treatment (Tier 4 and above).

Coolants

Purpose

Coolants are mixtures of substances which are used for the dissipation of heat and therefore protect components against overheating.

WIRTGEN GROUP coolant for protection against corrosion, overheating, and frost (not for 09WR (WR 200i) or for KLEEMANN machines).

Hydraulic oils

Purpose

For efficient power transmission: As hydraulic fluids, the purpose of hydraulic oils is to transmit the hydraulic power from the pump to the engine or cylinder with minimal energy loss. At the same time, they lubricate moving parts, protect against corrosion, and transport contaminants out of the hydraulic system. Hydraulic oils must, however, be resistant to ageing and pressure. They also need to demonstrate outstanding wetting and adhesion properties.

The most frequently used hydraulic fluids are based on mineral oils treated with appropriate additives. The term hydraulic oil is used for such specially formulated oils. Hydraulic oil requirements are regulated in ISO 6743/4 under the codes HL, HM, and HV (in Germany, the codes HL, HLP, HVLP are commonly used in line with DIN 51524).

WIRTGEN GROUP HVLP oils contain additives for increased corrosion protection, resistance to ageing, reduction of fretting wear in the mixed friction range, and for the improvement of the viscosity/temperature ratio (higher viscosity index), as well as the suppression of foaming.

The viscosity classes of hydraulic oils

The ISO (International Organization for Standardization) classifies hydraulic oils according to their viscosity.

The characteristic curve for the WIRTGEN GROUP multigrade hydraulic oil is significantly flatter, i.e. the oil is affected less by temperature-variations. At an oil temperature of 100°C, it can clearly be seen that the viscosity value is much more stable than that of a standard HLP hydraulic oil. The WIRTGEN GROUP Hydraulic Oil HVLP 46 has a viscosity of 7.9. In comparison, the viscosity of the standard hydraulic oil is only 6.9.

This shows that the multigrade oil has a higher viscosity at high temperatures than a standard oil and therefore provides better lubrication. The WIRTGEN GROUP also offers a specially formulated VG 100 hydraulic oil for use at high ambient temperatures such as those encountered in tropical regions. VG 32 hydraulic oils can also be purchased for use in regions with consistently low ambient temperatures.

Biodegradable multigrade hydraulic oil: Suitable for use in high temperatures (subtropics, tropics). As a low-flammability hydraulic oil, it meets the requirements of the Emscher Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) and is therefore also suitable for underground mining applications.

Gear oils

Purpose

Ensuring the protection and smooth running of gearboxes: Gear oils protect gearboxes against corrosion, neutralise acids, and prevent typical damage such as pitting (flaking) and fretting (point-fusion with subsequent separation due to mechanical loads). They also guarantee outstanding smooth-running characteristics in mechanical components such as gear wheels, bearings, friction clutches, or braking systems. The lubricant has to withstand extreme temperature fluctuations, high partial pressures, condensation, as well as dust and abraded contaminants.

In contrast to ACEA, API also issues standards for gear oils. The API GL-5 (Gear Lubricant) is the standard that can currently fulfil the most stringent requirements. The following list provides an overview of gear oils for a variety of applications.

Mineral oil based axle gear oil for WIRTGEN travel drive systems. Unsuitable for WIRTGEN milling drum gearboxes (except 2500 SM, 4200 SM), HAMM vibratory bearings and drum drives, or for VÖGELE pump splitter gearboxes and travel drive systems.

WIRTGEN GROUP Multi Gear Oil VG 150

Mineral oil based industrial gear oil for KLEEMANN cone crushers. The EP (extreme pressure) additives provide exceptional wear protection. Recommended for use in KLEEMANN MCO 9 EVO and MCO 11 PRO cone crushers.

WIRTGEN GROUP Multi Gear Oil VG 220

Mineral oil based industrial gear oil for KLEEMANN cone crushers. The EP (extreme pressure) additives provide exceptional wear protection.

WIRTGEN GROUP Special Gear Oil

Specially formulated, fully-synthetic multigrade gear oil for VÖGELE pump splitter gearboxes and travel drive systems, HAMM vibratory bearings, and KLEEMANN travel drive systems. It has excellent cold-start behaviour and provides exceptional wear protection (for example for bearings and gear wheels), and is therefore particularly suitable for heavy-duty applications.

WIRTGEN GROUP Special Gear Oil Roller Drum Drive

Specially formulated, fully-synthetic multigrade gear oil for HAMM roller drum drives. It has excellent cold-start behaviour and provides exceptional wear protection (for example for bearings and gear wheels), and is therefore particularly suitable for heavy-duty applications.

WIRTGEN GROUP High-Performance Gear Oil PGLP 150

Exclusive, fully-synthetic gear oil, specially formulated for guaranteeing maximum performance in WIRTGEN milling drum gearboxes. The high wettability of the lubricant ensures outstanding adhesion on gear wheels and thus provides ideal protection against wear. Unsuitable for use in HAMM vibratory bearings and drum drives.

Exclusive, fully synthetic gear oil formulated for guaranteeing maximum performance in WIRTGEN hot recyclers and in S-Pack binding agent metering units. The high wettability of the lubricant ensures outstanding adhesion on gear wheels and thus provides ideal protection against wear. Unsuitable for use in HAMM vibratory bearings and drum drives.

Lubricating greases

Purpose

For reliable lubrication of components: Lubricating greases are formulated for the long-term lubrication of roller, sliding, and linear bearings, as well as sliding surfaces, gear wheels, and gear teeth. Greasing provides outstanding protection against corrosion and prevents age-related material fatigue. Greases must remain soft and supple, even at extremely low temperatures. At the same time, they may not become runny or drip at high temperatures.

Lubricating greases are made from a base oil to which thickeners are added. Thickeners, in turn, are special soaps which are, for example, manufactured on the basis of the metals lithium, calcium, aluminium, barium, or sodium. Lubricating greases are also treated with additives that protect mechanical components against wear and corrosion.

Mineral oil based grease for the lubrication of bearings subjected to extreme loads or impacts in damp and unfavourable conditions. Suitable for lubrication points with mixed friction, rough surfaces, and as assembly grease (for example for joint pins and wheel bearings). Unsuitable for ball bearings and polished surfaces. Operating temperature range from -25°C to +120°C.

WIRTGEN GROUP High-Performance Grease

Mineral oil based lithium complex grease with outstanding wear protection. For use on couplings and WIRTGEN remixers, for example. Broad operating temperature range from -20°C to +150°C (multigrade grease).

WIRTGEN GROUP Friction and Roller Bearing Grease

High-performance polyurea grease with extreme pressure resistance and outstanding wear protection. For the lubrication of VÖGELE roller bearings and sliding bearings that are subject to high thermal loads. Broad operating temperature range from -25°C to +180°C (multigrade grease).

WIRTGEN GROUP Cone Moly Grease

High viscosity lithium complex grease for lubrication in KLEEMANN cone crushers. Molybdenum disulphide (MoS2) grease. For slow-turning, heavy-duty bearings and bolts. Unsuitable for ball bearings and polished surfaces. Operating temperature range from -20°C to +150°C.
